Overall, I am happy with this product. With the absolute disaster that Saitek is going through in terms of actually being able to ship stuff, I was not willing to wait two months (or more) for one of their throttles. I like the way these throttles feel. They do not feel like throttles I’ve felt in other planes. they are not as stiff or don’t have as much “throttle friction” as I would usually fly with in real life, however, for flying a sim they are fine and they don’t feel bad.

I am an instrument rated private pilot who is working on his multi engine rating. I have been in to sim flying for about ~12 years now, and now that I am working on my multi, I needed more than one throttle to practice.

Having the switches on the front is cool, I didn’t even realize it had them when I bought this, but now I can have stuff like my gear and flaps on a switch instead of using my keyboard.

I have two minor complaints about this throttle unit. The first is that it is pretty big. I think the throttle levers themselves are an appropriate size, but the plastic housing seems un-necessairily large.

The other thing I am not super happy about is that at the bottom of the throttles there is a little notch for thrust reverse. I fly X-Plane, and I was aware that I could not map them for reverse thrust. That being said, they are still there, and I usually use them as “idle at 1000”, but out of all 6 levers, the one that is not even with the other 5 is the starboard throttle. It does not sit even with the others when in this little notch. A little annoying.

Just got this and it is a solid piece of work as I expected from CH, with their heavy duty plastic and no nonsense feel. The only minor nitpicks or things I might change would be to include some sort of longer extension as and option, since the control arms are fairly short and part of that is taken up by the rear detent and travel behind it, so the small throw of the control arm makes it a little tricky to get it down to the exact % you want especially when balancing 2 engines. Also the switches/buttons need a more positive click or feel, or some more resistance. They can be activated by barely touching them. I would be wary of mapping some critical thing like engine feathering, wouldn’t want to feather my prop when in combat!

Package says it is made in USA but it is assembled in Mexico. Well, 1 out of 2 isn’t bad these days! I have some CH Pro Pedals that have been chugging along for 15 years without fail, so they do have a well earned reputation for long lasting products.

Waiting for the Saitek products to come out, and purchased this because I didn’t want to wait until next summer. Looked great out of the box, about what I expected, so I got right into plugging it in and setting it up. First off, calibration requires the CH Control app, so you have to go online and download it. I followed all of the instructions – Windows found the USB device and set it up, and then I launched the Control app. Actually read most of the Help pages before continuing. Quick explanation: there are 6 levers, each with a range of 0 to 255, and the software shows that. However, on the 0 end, not one of the levers would read 0…the lowest read 10. The others ranged from 12 to 16. When you are trying to calibrate both throttles on a King Air (or any other aircraft), that kind of discrepancy isn’t good. On the other end of the range, only 2 of the 6 could be made to read 255…the others ranged from 252 to 254, and 2 of them kept bouncing back and forth between 252-253. Once again, not linear at all, and jitters on several of the axes.

To be fair, I have already contacted tech support on these issues, but I am not pleased to have paid so much for this throttle quad and found it to me non-linear and unstable. I will work on getting this resolved, but at this time, I wouldn’t recommend it as a reliable controller.
